About
After three failed attempts to get into a computer science degree, Sofiat took an unconventional path via Mathematics and self-taught programming. She persisted through uncertainties, repeated graduate school rejections, and went on to earn a fully funded PhD in Computing. Now, she lectures at the University of Glasgow, teaching the very subject she once couldn't get into.
Sofiat founded Computer Science Academy (CSA) Africa to ensure no young African goes through the same struggle. She's since raised £150,000+ and trained 700+ young people across 13 African countries in programming.
As a speaker, Sofiat has addressed university audiences across the UK, US, and internationally, sharing her journey and CSA Africa's impact at tech events and organisations. Her storytelling resonates deeply, with many describe her voice as inspiring and her message as one that stays with you.
If you're looking for a speaker who will empower your audience to be courageous, resilient, and believe in themselves, Sofiat won't fail you there.
